Conceived as a Journey in homage to the journeying through the oceans of the Whale, the audience members being welcomed one by one inside a rough- edged scenographic structure composed of sailing-ship canvas screens, ropes, rope swings, rope ladders, with a sort of inner sanctuary of burning fire-fly threads with lit ashes maculating a white cloth carpet below while a sea-captain plays on an old synthesizer and recites old mariner style verses of an existential bent.
Our Journey proceeds in several stages or movements:
1) Being welcomed into a space of potential or impending symbolism ;
2) Encountering a " guide " who, at very close range banishing all formality, begins to initiate you into the whale-themed narrative of the performance ;
3) Gathering around an actress who is confiding elements of her very own personal story, thereby creating a pure space of naive confidence ;
4) Seeing a young blood among the actors scale a tall rope ladder to introduce a vertical axis to balance the horizontal axis of interlocution and intimate proximity;
5) Entering the inner sanctuary where the fire element alternates flickers of life and death in an endless choreography linking the ephemeral and the eternal ;
6) Reuniting in a convivial space free of screens where we will alternate between dance and embrace in a pure form of tribal communion and joyous acceptance of the Other.
